Anna Nalick covers “Breaking The Girl”

13:52:48 CET | Viewed 547 times | 2 comments

On her new EP, Shine, Anna Nalick has covered RHCP’s Breaking The Girl. It’s up to both her and the guys’ fans to decide if this is actually good or it’s as catastrophic as Taylor Daine or (god forbid) All Saints’ take at Under The Bridge; or as hillarous and brilliant as Dick Brave’s take on Give It Away or Richard Cheese’s swing-jazz short version of Suck My Kiss.

Here’s an excerpt of the review:

Also included is a sparse and piercing cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ track, “Breaking the Girl,” which Nalick strikingly turns on its head. She sticks to Anthony Kiedis’ lyrical point of view, thus enriching the already-beguiling sense of this song.

You can read the whole review of Anna’s effort at the following link and listen/buy the song here. The whole EP is available here.

You Can’t Stop Me Now will see the day, after all

15:55:06 CET | Viewed 365 times | 1 comment

(thanks to Anita C.S. for the heads up!)

RZA’s new solo release titled Bobby Digital and scheduled to see the light of the day sometime later this spring will, amongst other songs, contain You Can’t Stop Me Now, the third collaboration with John that was omitted from Wu-Tang Clan’s 8 Diagrams before the final track listing was announced.

So, yes, the song exists, the guitar on it sounds very laid-back and soul-ish and you can hear it on RZA’s Myspace page, as well as Wu-Tang Clan’s Myspace page.

Site updates, 20th March 2008

This update was strategically delayed for one simple reason: 750 000 visitors milestone. I thought it would be a nice non-coincidence.

As usual, the brief list of updates is here, and you need to load the separate news item page for a detailed description. There will probably be one more update in a couple of days, as I promised some people some certain audio and video, but today it’s a zeitnot, so…later.

Do you have any questions for Joe Lally?

16:44:08 CET | Viewed 595 times | 7 comments

Drumroll, please! ^_^

One of Invisible-Movement’s sister sites, JoshKlinghoffer.net aka JKDN is doing an interview with Joe Lally, one third of Ataxia, a member of Fugazi and a solo artist in his own right. Joe has said he is happy to talk about his work with John and Josh, and the Ataxia recordings.

So, would you like to ask Joe something? Please, email me the question or leave a comment to this entry. I’ll direct all the questions to the person doing this interview.

You have twenty-four hours to do this, as the interview will take place very, very soon. After it has taken place, an audio stream will be available to public, as well as the transcript.

Site updates, 11th March 2008

First of all, guys, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thanks to everyone who’s been so kind to support Invisible Movement with donations, as you can see, the hosting has been renewed for the next 14 months and it’s all thanks to kind people who donated, and Jason who was so kind to receive them at his Paypal address and process them to the hosting company on the server of which server this website happens to reside.

In future, the donation button will remain on the site and donations will be used to renew hosting even further, possibly connect the member system on the forum with comments on the site and the gallery (which, as the most of you know, doesn’t have comments allowed at this time) and possibly access old magazine articles from various online archives and share them for everyone to enjoy and get to know more.

Once again, all of your help and support is more than appreciated, there aren’t words nice enough to describe how nice some people out there are, so just once more: thanks!

So..here’s this week set of updates. This time there are some nice magazine scans again, live photos, some of which are from a show there were no fan photos from before, some of which are from the much loved set at the ATP and…you’ll see where the others are from. There are also a couple of longish magazine articles and a revised transcript of Stuff.

  1. Two new sets of magazine scans
  2. Five new sets of live photographs
  3. Five new magazine articles
  4. Stuff transcript has been redone

Keith Murray would go for John as his dream-festival opener.

23:24:45 CET | Viewed 366 times | 1 comment

Having been asked by ITN.co.uk about what their dream festival would look like, members of the New York-based band We Are Scientists gave very interesting responses and that just adds them to the list to musicians who are fans of John’s work.

Bassist Chris Cain joked: “My first question would be, ‘do the bands all have to still be alive?’, because if so, I can’t work within those constraints. I won’t do that.”

Singer Keith Murray added: “If we had no limitations financially or whether or not the artist is dead, John Frusciante is on first, he gets an hour set. Red Hot Chilli Peppers close it out.”
