As official as it may get…

16:40:22 CET | Viewed 583 times | 1 comment

Record Collection Music seem to have their website working again and this is what it says:

John Frusciante is finally back from just over 2 years of touring. Hearing whispers that John has been working on a new album. Unfortunately we have no solid details to give.

For everyone who’s into speculation, putting pieces together and blablayaddayadda, these are the other things friends of Invisible Movement and I have (not) found out so far:

  1. The yet-to-be-titled album is supposedly mastered
  2. According to Ryan Hewitt’s page
  3. Tape Op article

The yet-to-be-titled album is supposedly mastered

23:21:42 CET | Viewed 1,117 times | Comments Off

(thanks to beejaysus for the heads up!)

When asked about mastering secrets behind John’s upcoming tenth solo album, still known only under the codename Solo X on his message boards; Steve Hoffman, the music restoration mastermind said only this:

Heh, that’s supposed to be a secret! We reduced the upper bass boom a teeny-tiny bit (1/2 db). Other than that, it’s how John mixed it.

So, according to this, the mastering has probably been completed and all that’s left is waiting for an actual announcement and, of course, the album’s real name. But don’t go jumping around, please; remember that it took a while for SCWP and AWII to see the light of the day. And anticipation is always the sweetest part.

RHCP could be headlining a new festival in USA?

9:52:46 CET | Viewed 660 times | 1 comment

According to The Daily Journal RHCP could be the headlining band for the Vineland festival that would be held in Vineland, New Jersey, USA; following the pattern of UK’s famous Reading Festival.

Melvin Benn, a London-based promoter, announced plans for the festival alongside Mayor Perry Barse during a press conference at City Hall on Tuesday afternoon. The funk-rock superstars could be on the lineup at a three-day outdoor music festival to be held in the city Aug. 8 to 10.

Benn said the festival will be modeled on the annual Reading Festival in Reading, England, which he has helped organize since 1989. ast headliners at the Reading Festival include Radiohead, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the White Stripes and Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

The Vineland Festival will be held on a 570-acre farm near the intersection of Sherman Avenue and Hance Bridge Road. Concertgoers will be able to camp at the site, Benn said. Eighty to 100 acts from various genres will perform throughout the festival, he said. A full lineup will be announced and tickets will go on sale in March, according to Benn.

UPDATE: KYW1060 also reported this.

For one weekend in August next year, Vineland, NJ will become the Rock Capital of the World. A major Lollapalooza-style event is on tap, beginning August 8th, 2008.

Organizers first pitched the idea for Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, but when the park commission could not come to terms (see related story), a 500-acre site in southeast Vineland was chosen to host the event.

Vineland mayor Perry Barse believes the rock festival will be a win-win for his city:

“It’s going to promote our name recognition tremendously, both nationally and internationally. It will generate what we estimate to be millions of dollars in advertising and promotion that obviously we could never afford as a municipality.”

While the lineup has not been announced, the promoters have been known to attract such groups as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Smashing Pumpkins, and Metallica.

Great things around the corner…or not?

5:27:26 CET | Viewed 1,111 times | Comments Off

(thanks to Dennis for the heads up)

Ryan Hewitt, whom we know as the engineer who worked on all of John’s recent solo albums and some of RHCP stuff, updates his MySpace page whenever he’s finished some projects and started working on new ones. This is what his respective page has on at the moment, amongst other things:

Recorded and mixed a new album for John Frusciante
Mixed RHCP European TV broadcasts

So, according to this, I guess we might be getting the unbroadcasted RHCP show from this year and that the next solo album by John is definitely in sight. Now, don’t panic, don’t go mad as Ataxia’s AWII was probably ready early in 2006, yet only published in May 2007…

Regarding the unbroadcasted show, I have contacted the local television’s officials and I’m still waiting for a reply for them.
