A strange comparison indeed
18:55:54 CET | Viewed 625 times |
Of course it has crossed some people’s minds that Britney Spears’ story has a wee bit in common with what John went through (just with glamour, family matters and way too many headlines added to that…), but it is a bit strange to mention John in an article about ms. Spears. However, yes, that happens sometimes…
That’s not to say that she’s bored with fame or with trendy night clubs or with surrounding herself with bad influences. Or that she’s going to go the John Frusciante route and give up all her vices to focus exclusively on her art.
Well, of course she won’t. It takes one in six billion people for that, r-r-right?

Invisible Movement’s GLOBAL action. You can participate, too!
23:36:47 CET | Viewed 1,250 times |
This evening, my friend and I got a great, great idea while sitting and discussing music, world and boundaries at her place. So, I decided to go for that idea. And Invisible Movement visitors from all over the world are invited to participate.
Are you eligible? Perhaps. Read the requirements below.
- You have 5 to 30 minutes of free time for this. Yes, just that much.
- Your native language is NOT English[1]
- Your English skills are satisfying.
- You’re literate enough when it comes to your own language.
- You’re not a messy typer and you know what to capitalise.
- You have no problem with your first, last name and country you’re from being displayed on a page.
So, if you want to participate in this project, please email me at iva@invisible-movement.net with Invisible Movement’s GLOBAL action as the subject, and I’ll tell you what you have to do. And, just to make sure I said it all, regular contributors have first dibs.
1Volunteers have already been found for German, Italian, Norwegian, Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian/Montenegrin, Hungarian, Turkish, Swedish and Spanish language. But, at the moment all other languages are welcome! When I say ALL, I mean all. Everything from Arabic to Portugese; from Russian to Greek, from Hebrew to Japanese. When I say global, I mean global.

Annie Leibovitz’s photo exibition in Detroit, MI, USA
17:00:42 CET | Viewed 870 times |
As seen on The Michigan Journal, an exibition of Annie Leibovitz’s photography called Annie Leibovitz: American Music, organized by the Experience Music Project (EMP) of Seattle, WA, is now at the Detroit Institute of Arts for a limited time.
The history of American music is filled with rich stories behind the artists and the songs people around the world have loved; stories of love come and gone, the making of lifelong musical partnerships and the development of such prominent areas of music as jazz, blues, rock and hip hop. Documented through several series of photographs, renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz has captured the essence of American music in a new exhibition of the same name.
And, most importantly and the only reason it’s posted here for…
The fourth room focuses on contemporary music and features pictures of artists like Brian Wilson, Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, Bonnie Raitt and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ guitarist John Frusciante. Wilson’s portrait photograph stands out as it juxtaposes the “fun in the sun” image of the Beach Boys with a dark sky and impending storm in the background of the picture, which features a somber Wilson.
So, if you live in USA, close to Detroit and are able to go to this nice exibition, this might be an additional reason for you.

I am guessing many of you wondered what was actually written in the 1992. Rolling Stone with RHCP minus John on the cover and what kind of a vibe the article itself had. Well, Invisible Movement has the scans, thanks to our Marian’s wonderful sister Missy! More on the collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan
5:43:46 CET | Viewed 778 times |
(as seen on Pitchfork)
While they were at it, RZA and the gang also dragged John Frusciante along for the ride.
The Chili Pepper plays lead on the Wu rendition, which is simply called “Gently Weeps” and isn’t a cover in the straight sense. Instead it features the Clan rapping over the cover version recorded with Dhani and John, acting out a heroin dealer/heroin user saga. Method Man portrays the victim, while Ghostface turns in “one of the best lyrics I’m ever heard him say” (according to RZA, but we believe him) as the dealer.
8 Diagrams, meanwhile, now has a release date of November 13 on SRC (both this and the whole Beatles thing having been confirmed by the Wu publicist). We won’t hold our breath, but we will keep throwing up our Ws.

New poll!
3:36:50 CET | Viewed 634 times |
After running the previous poll for more than a month and having had 1307 people vote, there’s a clear picture of what John and RHCP fans think of Josh Klinghoffer’s
According to 53% of voters did not mind Josh’s presence at all or they loved it.
The number of people who were not happy with his presence equals 23%, while 22% think he should be involved in John’s solo projects, but not with anything that concerns Red Hot Chili Peppers.
2% of people had no clue who Josh was. This should entertain you, guys.
Some people pointed out that Chris Warren, Chad’s drum tech, has been playing keyboards on By The Way ever since the song’s been played live. It’s just that he’s always in the back, behind the drums, and Josh was behind John.
IMPORTANT: If you guys still want to go on and on and on about this, this is the URL of the page where the poll is.
So, here’s a new poll. This month, it’s been a decade since John’s most enigmatic album to date, Smile From The Streets You Hold was released. And, in most cases, it’s either an album people love or an album they absolutely hate. It would be very interesting to see what you all think about it, as the situation’s completely different now, it’s been ten years and many things have happened in the meantime.
Of course, after voting, you can also comment on the poll.
Comments to this entry have been disabled in order not to confuse people.
