Do you have any questions for Joe Lally?

16:44:08 CET | Viewed 595 times | 7 comments

Drumroll, please! ^_^

One of Invisible-Movement’s sister sites, JoshKlinghoffer.net aka JKDN is doing an interview with Joe Lally, one third of Ataxia, a member of Fugazi and a solo artist in his own right. Joe has said he is happy to talk about his work with John and Josh, and the Ataxia recordings.

So, would you like to ask Joe something? Please, email me the question or leave a comment to this entry. I’ll direct all the questions to the person doing this interview.

You have twenty-four hours to do this, as the interview will take place very, very soon. After it has taken place, an audio stream will be available to public, as well as the transcript.

Keith Murray would go for John as his dream-festival opener.

23:24:45 CET | Viewed 367 times | 1 comment

Having been asked by ITN.co.uk about what their dream festival would look like, members of the New York-based band We Are Scientists gave very interesting responses and that just adds them to the list to musicians who are fans of John’s work.

Bassist Chris Cain joked: “My first question would be, ‘do the bands all have to still be alive?’, because if so, I can’t work within those constraints. I won’t do that.”

Singer Keith Murray added: “If we had no limitations financially or whether or not the artist is dead, John Frusciante is on first, he gets an hour set. Red Hot Chilli Peppers close it out.”

Happy 38th birthday to John!

16:05:32 CET | Viewed 359 times | 2 comments

As the most of people visiting this (a) corner of the cyberspace, today is John’s birthday and he’s thirty-eight years old. Though there’s, like, 1% probability he’d ever read this; warm greetings from me and everyone in the Invisible Movement community!

This is Bella and this photo of her was taken three days after John and RHCP’s extremely brief state in this (I grew up there and I wasn’t scared) part of the world in June; and despite the fact that she’s female, her humble, fragile and shy looks and uniqueness compared to the rest of the heard she was a part of make this piece of Kilobytes an appropriate piece to, at least in dreams, present to John on this day.

Bella

If you want to wish John a happy birthday, there’s a thread on the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ official message board. Click here!. They also have a news item for it.

You can also join the little party we’re having on the Invisible Movement boards, click here.

♥ Love above everything! ♥

Eastern Rim was NOT a rumour and it’s out soon.

4:21:07 CET | Viewed 494 times | 2 comments

(thanks to Jason for heads up!)

The story about Chad’s DVD, Eastern Rim, was definitely not a rumour. The piece, which is very relevant to John appreciators as it contains footage of the amazing jam held on on 11th April last year in Melbourne will be available on DVD from 10th March on.

Performances: In addition to rare, behind-the-scenes views of a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert, this DVD captures an explosive 30-minute improv live from Federation Square in Melbourne. Chad and his band mates surprise the crowd by turning a scheduled drum clinic into a full-fledged jam!

To read more and order the DVD, click here.

Bits and bites, part two

Another band that (almost) swears by John
Members of Here Is There, a band from Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA stated in an interview that John is their biggest idol and influence.

Here Is There’s influences include David Bowie, The Strokes, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and especially John Frusciante. “He is God,” Chris said. “I want some kid to listen to us like the way that I listen to John Frusciante.”

RHCP’s Navarro episode on the list of worst career reinventions ever
The popular website publishing various, semi-humorous and more often sarcastic lists of this and that, considers RHCP’s excursion in the dark and experimental waters with Dave Navarro to be one of the fifteen worst career reinventions in music. As a bizzare coincidence, the piece was written by the writer/comedian John Frusciante, who should NOT be confused with the John Frusciante this site is about. Now read the previous sentence once again.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers had turned some heads with the innovative funky, rap-rock blend of Blood Sugar Sex Magik. They hoped to keep turning those heads until they snapped right off with 1995’s One Hot Minute. Their recording process reads like a “how to” guide for great bands who want to make sure they never sell another album.

Click here and scroll down to number five to read the rest, as it might be too offensive for some.

*Thanks for the second bit goes to Filip.

Invisible-Movement.net is on MySpace

17:48:57 CET | Viewed 514 times | 4 comments

I have (finally) made a page for Invisible-Movement.net on MySpace.
Here it is, add it to your friends. And don’t worry, it won’t be one of the pages cluttering your bulletin board and friends’ updates section ten thousand times a day.

Currently, I’m in the process of looking for a band whose music will be on I-M.net’s MySpace as a default profile song during February 2008. It’s first come, first serve so…drop me a line over there or here. Oh yes, and, for now, those who have been featured on the site playlist aren’t eligible for this; but they will be in future.

An update…containing something shown earlier this week on TV in USA

22:51:49 CET | Viewed 692 times | Comments Off

As you might have noticed, there was no playlist update on Wednesday. I decided to keep this one for one more week and focus on re-uploading some important stuff. But don’t worry, there will be a new playlist on 30th January and, for now, here’s quite a large update, containing some material from the Johnny Ramone tribute, with a very nice John interview…oh yes, that one will be on the playlist on Wednesday as well, for those people who are not so keen on downloading.

A brief list of updates is below. For the details and links, there’s the “continue reading” link.

  1. Forum and fanlisting milestones
