In an interview with New York entertainment, Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA revealed some more on his upcoming solo effort, Digi Snacks:
What can you tell us about the guest appearances on the record?
I kept it to my family, meaning the brothers that’s around me a lot. We got Rugged Monk from the Black Knights. He came off jail about two years ago, and I just kept him around me. He’s a good brother. We got Thea, the girl who’s singing from out of Holland. A beautiful singer, she’s got like, an Erykah Badu–Billie Holiday voice, nah mean? She’s a clean-cut girl so she doesn’t need to be around all the vulgarity and sex that we talk about, but she came in and helped me out and had fun with it. I had John Frusciante coming in to play guitar on a couple of tracks for me. I had George Clinton and El DeBarge come in. They did a hook for my song “Up Again.” The only Wu-Tang member on the album is Inspectah Deck.

According to the story found at Soultracks; Red Hot Chili Peppers will be among the collaborators on George Clinton’s new effort, Radio-Friendly, the release date of which is said to be 03rd September 2008. It is not clear whom exactly he’s collaborating with, but guess we can take rough predictions seeing who the other collaborators are.
Other guests will be Sly Stone, Carlos Santana, RZA, El Debarge, Kim Burrel, Shavo Odadjian and members of the P-Funk All Stars.
George Clinton has a way of not only crossing musical boundaries but also generational boundaries. As a result, the musicians on Radio Friendly came of age in different eras and come from different worlds. “I want to get all the young musicians together with all the old school musicians,” George notes. “We need to come together! There shouldn’t be any division in music. Soon as we got Sly and Santana, everyone wanted to get on the bandwagon.”
Here’s more news on one of the recent collaborations.
Rapper RZA and his alter ego, Bobby Digital, will release a new album, Digi Snacks, in July via Koch Records. Digi Snacks will feature an impressive and diverse list of guests such as John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Dhani Harrison, The Black Knights, Dexter Wiggles, Shavo Odadjian (System of a Down), Reverend William Burke, Stone Mecca and Scandinavian newcomer Thea. “I think Digi Snacks is an album with a lot of fun,” says RZA. “This album is more of a performance album too. When you see it live, you’ll get a difference experience. I’m not trying to get into the world… I’m trying to bring the world to come to us.” RZA will embark on a U.S. tour starting June 10 in Houston with the group Stone Mecca as his backing band.

System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian, Wu-Tang Clan founder The RZA, Kinetic 9 (aka Beretta 9 from Killarmy), and up-and-comer, the Reverend William Burke from Chicago, have formed a musical alliance, Achozen, and have just finished recording their self-titled debut album which is expected out this summer.
Achozen’s debut also features an eclectic and impressive array of guest performers that includes George Clinton, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ guitar-god John Frusciante, Wu-Tang affiliate Killah Priest, Wu-Tang founding member GZA, emcee Sick Jacken from Psycho Realm, and Angolin rapper Leggezin Fin are all on the album.
Song titles have not been defined yet, but the song titled Deuces will make its online premier at urSESSION.com on Tuesday, 22nd April at 4:22PM PDT. You can read more about the band on its Myspace page.
RZA’s new solo release titled Bobby Digital and scheduled to see the light of the day sometime later this spring will, amongst other songs, contain You Can’t Stop Me Now, the third collaboration with John that was omitted from Wu-Tang Clan’s 8 Diagrams before the final track listing was announced.

Look at the following MTV Overdrive clip of The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala carefully, as John appears in it as well, in the pro-footage of when he played L’Via L Viaquez with the band on either August 04th or 50th, 2005 in Long Beach.
