“Curtains” will be the final solo release by Red Hot Chili Peppers from his 2004 six record series.
Set for release January 24, the album was recorded on a vintage Ampex 8-track tape machine at John’s his house. Rather than bring in expensive, time consuming studio equipment, Frusciante took the lo-fi approach throughout the entire recording process - sat on his living room floor, playing and singing his songs and then doing overdubs.
The overdubs were assisted by Carla Azar of Autolux on drums, Ken Wylde on upright bass and Omar Rodriguez of The Mars Volta, who played lead guitar on two songs.
Described by the label as a “very warm album, but also very sad, with additional doses of happiness, strength and humour for good measure,” ‘Curtains’ is the last release in the six record series which commenced in early 2004 with ‘The Will To Death’.
Other releases included Ataxia’s ‘Automatic Writing’, ‘The DC EP’, ‘Inside Of Emptiness’ and ‘A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence’ (recorded with Josh Klinghoffer).
