Red Hot Chili Peppers

RHCP are rehearsing indeed, sez Mr. Smith.

RHCP in 1991This post is brought to you by Invisible Movement and RHCP Universe together, because we split the duties to find what was necessary; and man, we sure had a lot of caffeine as well.

On Monday, Chad Smith was interviewed by yet another radio station, Cities97 and you can listen to the interview here or download it by right-clicking and saving as, as some computers have problems with Windows Media streams and it was easy to get the actual link. And Dolfina of RHCP Universe was so kind to transcribe the relevant bits: things regarding RHCP rehearsing and nominations for the RNR Hall of Fame. I hope this little tea biscuit-sized news will make your day, if you’re worrying.

BT: 25 years you’ve gotta be doing the rock n roll thing to be nominated for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. That’s you guys this year. How do you feel about that?

Chad Smith: I feel OOOLLLDDD BT, old! Can you hear my balls creeking over here… Nooo, it’s ah, it’s, it’s awesome. I mean that, that’s cool, I mean there’s award shows every week y’know for … whatever, y’know, but y’know for best haircut and all that stuff on TV, they like their award shows.. But I think the Hall really has a, it holds y’know, somethin’ that has that merit to it and ahh, we’re just, we’re honored. I’m just.. just to think that a band like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers started out like, kinda like as a joke, is y’know. Been together this long, and is still relevent! We make records that people want to hear, and wanna come see us play and we’re doing new things all the time and for a band to still be doing that.. Yeah, I’m very proud of it! I’m humbled and honored and I hope ah, I hope that Iggy and the Stooges get in. I know that they’re up and that would be.. it would be a crime if… that music and that band was very influential and ah, I hope that we get to get in on what he does and have a nice jam. I’m sure that they’ll do the right thing.

BT agrees and says that it would be awesome for both bands to get in – Red Hot Chili Peppers and Iggy and the Stooges – in the same year.

BT: You’ve gotta be the busiest guy around, I mean, 2 side projects, you’ve got the Bombastic Meatbats, you’ve got Chickenfoot…[Chad cuts in]

Chad Smith: I’m going to start Kid Rock’s new album. Today is the first day.

BT: Nice!

Chad Smith: Yeah, Rick Rubin’s producing it and he’s like you’ve gotta play on this, he’s got great songs… So I’m going over to do that and then till 4 o’clock and then at 4.30 I’m going to start rehearsing with the Chili Peppers, so..

BT: hehehahaha

Chad Smith: I’m woorrKKING!!

BT: Go, Go, Go Baby!

Chad Smith: Go man, go!!
