Saturday question #21: Pets, pets, pets!

A cute giraffe!Welcome to the 21st edition of Saturday questions. Today we have the first-ever guest question and it popped up totally spontaneously. And it's a nice question.

Robyn asks: If you could have any creature as a pet (exclude endangered species and anything that for its own quality of life should not live in captivity or with humans) what would you have?

  1. Mary says:

Cute!!! No matter what I will always pick dogs but for fun I’d pick a dolphin given I’d have a really huge piece of sea all to myself.

  2. Sue says:

A miniature horse would be very cute and they live for a really long time in comparison to
most dogs (average 25-35yrs)… But my ultimate would be to look after a small colony of
meerkats, imo they are the most adorable creatures in the world!!

  3. maccsesz says:

    definitely a cat ;-)

  4. shalhevet dvir says:

well i love all kinds of animals. i also have a dog in my house. the cutest animals i would like to have is a penguine and dolphine. also a fairy but they don’t exist.

  5. Manu1236 says:

    A cat and a monkey

  6. halcyon says:

    a wale !

    (i’m not joking) ;-)

  7. Lucy says:

I’ve got two cats, one of them has two and a half legs, he took on a train about 5 6 years ago and thankfully lived to tell the tale.. the other one’s his sister and she’s got a dodgy eye, guess I always did like the damaged..

  8. Sue says:

I have a dog and cat that I love very much. I was just imagining that IF I had unlimited time, space and money, a mini-horse and a few meerkats would be very cool as well!!

  9. Jamie says:

definitely a penguin despite the cold and wetness
But on a more realistic level probably a pigeon…

  10. Matty says:

Definitely an elephant. The elephants in Asia are domesticated so it shouldn’t be a problem and they have a pretty lengthy life span =D

  11. Allen says:

eeehhhh… I have a dog but thats a little obvious so how about a…kimono dragon since they are just sooo cool.Or maybe a turtle which of course I would call Yertle :)

  12. Tigger says:

    A Phoenix.

    Also reminds me of John!

  13. emptysoul says:

I think I would go for a cat…not because John has one but because I just love them and I’m really interested in them…they’re just the best pets you could have

  14. Robyn says:

I’d have giraffes and owls (if I could have a barn so my cats wouldn’t bother them too much). And a camel named Pete.

  15. Katherine says:

Anything that’s “incomplete or damaged.” I’ve got a three legged cat named Tripod. She was born with four legs, but only had three feet. Her name fits her. We call her Poddy most of the the time. She’ll come to either one if she wants. At work, I generally gravitate towards any incomplete ones. I guess it’s because I’ve always pulled for the underdogs. Maybe a pet cow. I’d make it my “guard dog.” My animal science class did that. I’d always have a dog and cat and maybe bird. I don’t know. I’ve had chickens, rabbits, fish, iguanas, a Chinese water dragon, spiny lizards, hamsters, mice, gerbils, ducks, horseshoe crabs in addition to the birds, dogs, and cats. I’d like to have an eagle or hawk, but I wouldn’t want to keep it as a pet. I’d like to be able to become part of the clan, flock, pride, or group of wild animals. Mythologically speaking, a dragon or griffin.
