Bits and bites, part two

Another band that (almost) swears by John
Members of Here Is There, a band from Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA stated in an interview that John is their biggest idol and influence.

Here Is There’s influences include David Bowie, The Strokes, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and especially John Frusciante. “He is God,” Chris said. “I want some kid to listen to us like the way that I listen to John Frusciante.”

RHCP’s Navarro episode on the list of worst career reinventions ever
The popular website publishing various, semi-humorous and more often sarcastic lists of this and that, considers RHCP’s excursion in the dark and experimental waters with Dave Navarro to be one of the fifteen worst career reinventions in music. As a bizzare coincidence, the piece was written by the writer/comedian John Frusciante, who should NOT be confused with the John Frusciante this site is about. Now read the previous sentence once again.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers had turned some heads with the innovative funky, rap-rock blend of Blood Sugar Sex Magik. They hoped to keep turning those heads until they snapped right off with 1995’s One Hot Minute. Their recording process reads like a “how to” guide for great bands who want to make sure they never sell another album.

Click here and scroll down to number five to read the rest, as it might be too offensive for some.

*Thanks for the second bit goes to Filip.

The band Here Is There are 4, 17 year old high school seniors from Tulsa, ok. They won the Sattelite Battle of the bands held at the historic Cains Ballroom on Feb 23, 2008 in front of a sold out crowd. The Drummer is my son. Keep an eye on these young guns because they are on the move.

I don’t really agree. One Hot Minute was not the best album of the RHCP, but there are many good songs like My Friends, Tearjerker, One Big Mob, Pea, Falling Into Grace… I know that now they do never play those songs again, it’s sad  . But I agree, Frusciante is best  !
