Brian May praises John

22:56:12 CET | Viewed 1,989 times |

This is from Brian May’s blog, regarding Live Earth, written today. Many thanks to the ever so wonderful Serhiy for the heads up.

I didn’t see everyone, but of what I saw, I’m afraid I thought the Yanks pulverised us! The Chili Peppers and the Foos seemed to absolutely show everyone else up, in musicianship, work, polish and passion. I thought John Frusciante played SO dangerously - the best I’ve ever seen him play - The RHCP’s have deservedly conquered Britain’s hearts.

P.S. The poll works now. Feel free to vote and comment, but be nice. Disrespectful comments will be deleted. And, remember that if you’re commenting for the first time, your comment will have to wait for my approval. There’s no need to submit 2, 3, 4 times or anything.

Who cares? It’s just a list, everyone always argues about those lists when they do them. And I don’t know that John even cares about it.
Alot of it is just personal preference anyway as to who’s style you like.

Yes paulo, that’s right…but there are so many deservedly ranked guitarists too such as Jack White who really shines in the White Stripes’ recent album …i love Icky Thump,it’s damn good!…although i think John’s still way better than him not in terms of skill cause they seem quite at the same top level but in terms of innovation and diversity of rythms…one of the names you forgot to mention was Jonny Greenwood who really has to be among the top 20…but we’re not experts,we’re only talking our own desires.

Dear Iva,
could you be more specific about the word “disrespectful”? does it mean no critism? just praise and that’s all?…we’re all common in one thing and that’s our love for JOHN…so i think there’s no dispute here…enlighten us.let us know what you mean by that term you used thus we’ll find out how to behave later.thx.

Nice piece of complement by the man whose solos on songs like “Friends Will Be Friends”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Don’t Stop Me Now” will last forever in our minds…Mr. May’s rank in the Rollingstone magazine’s list of 100 guitarists of all time was a little bit unfair just like that of John…don’t you guys think if that list was to be re-issued right now,the rankings would be different?… even an unbiased person would admit that John truly deserves to be among the top ten…the thing is that unfortunately he was ranked 18 back then because he had not yet proved his skills to the extent that he showed’em through his sovereignity on the Stadium Arcadium album…you just take a look back at his previous projects with RHCP prior to that list and compare the previous 4 albums he did with the Peppers with the recent one and you’ll find this obvious truth…who else do you think was not treated fair enough in that ranking Iva?

Thanks for posting that. I’ve never been to Brian May’s blog before… well it’s nice that he said such things about the Chili’s. And to praise us Americans, I must say, we don’t get much of that lately.
