Iva,

Can you please do something about the poll, seems that it is impossible to see the results, and I am truly interested in seeing them as the discussion is getting really hot.

Regardless of their sub categorical classification RHCP are considered a gigantic rock band...so,there shouldn't be any doubts on that matter...but to me a keyboard belongs to pop music and other lowly types of music but not to the rock...rock is circumscribed within certain instruments that i mentioned before...but at the end of the day it's a matter of difference in attitudes.

Yes I agree with paulo sometimes keyboards are very good, and I think it's so exciting to hear not so ordinary instruments on a rock band. Just think about flea

That pure rock band? They have never been a pure ROCK band. They have been a funk/punk/rapping band and have played a variety of styles but they have not been a pure rock band ever. They are unique in style and it's hard to categorize them and they continue to change.

To supplement my previous comment i must once again insist that any instruments other than the typical rock music ones are not acceptable by the true lovers of this genre...and when it comes to the Red Hot Chili Peppers i become more cynical because when you love something and you care for it then the expectations also become so high and any mistake or deficiency won't escape the claws of criticism!...i remember the ex-Guns'n'Roses guitarist Slash once saying qoute:"i really hated Axl's idea of playing piano on our records"...you see?that's how Axl gradually devestated the judgment of his band and now the same is happening here with John...i hope he recalls those days when as a youngster he used to attend every RHCP gig and played all their notes in his room dreaming of a day to be a member of that pure rock band...if he remembers the basics of RHCP then he won't destroy it by his lads and their mean instruments such as keyboards.

Yes it's not the old RHCP but I don't feel that Josh is bad for the band. I think he give some new thing in their music and that is nice. I think the music become less funky no, too but it's interesting and not a bad think.

Today i was once again watching the RHCP's yesterday performance at Live Earth and much to my surprise i suddenly noticed a guy playing a god damned keyboard on the "By The Way" song! jesus christ! fortunately i had missed that one yesterday otherwise after how i felt about Josh's presence on the stage this would've added to the pain and could've caused me to commit suicide!...is this RHCP,my beloved band,we're talking about here or what?....i'm stunned...a series of pop and melodic singles and now a keyboard at a live performance by the Red no more Hot Chili Peppers?!!!i told you guys,John is ruining the solid and pure rock mentality of this band...he's the one who brings in new musicians into this band trying to dovetail differrent instruments along each other...RHCP is meant to be all about pure rock instruments...that's the tenet of this band, their main signature...a bassist,a drummer and of course a highly gifted guitarist in name of John Frusciante....but there's one thing i'm sure of and it's that had only Anthony Kiedis been a little bit talented to play an instrument none of these would've happened.most of the lead singers in the rock and metal bands have this capability that Anthony falls short of....i want my RHCP back...this RHCP is not the one we knew...John,don't do that to us,please.
