Inđija, Serbia - 26th June 2007…my first impressions

I received at least 30 emails with questions what exactly happened at the Green Fest. I will have a whole review; also numerous photos and videos I’ve taken, but, to cut the long story short….
The show was NOT shortened only because of John. He did look a bit nauseated and dizzy, but with the mad weather (40 degrees, two cold rain showers, temperature lowering to about 25 degrees, going back up, strong winds, a thunderstorm after the show), it’s completely human a person was feeling like that. The show was shortened for two songs, which were supposed to be C’mon Girl and Under The Bridge, and the intro jam for Californication and end jam after give it away. The real fans, who were mostly in the front where I was were great, amazing, enthusiastic and loud. People who threw bottles when it was over were mostly idiots and skinheads who came to see their band that performed first at the festival.
By the way, John was incredible. It brought a tear to my eye to see him do the same jam as on the Hullabaloo and the same magical outro to Don’t Forget Me like he did in Albany last year; right here, in my own country, just 45 km from the city I live in, in front of the crowd consisting of people from countries that separated with blood and pain. I was in the 1.5th row (seriously, not really front row, not really 2nd either) and I can tell you he was smiling and that he was giving the best of himself even when he was feeling dizzy as the end of the show and the thunderstorm were approaching.
Here’s the setlist. Expect review, photos and media VERY soon.
01 Intro
02 Can’t stop
03 Dani California
04 Scar Tissue
05 Short jam
06 Charlie
07 Readymade
08 Throw Away Your Television w/ Don’t You Ever Leave
09 Snow
10 SOS (John’s solo)
11 Higher Ground
12 She’s Only 18
13 Right On Time (w/ London Calling intro)
14 Don’t Forget Me
15 Californication
16 Flea solo (unknown)
17 By The Way
Encore:
18 Give It Away
This is the setlist that was shortened, the band was supposed to play two more songs and, obviously, intro to Californication and outro after Give It Away.

All of us who went to Inđija together, had an amazing adventure and camped from six in the morning to come back to our rented house in the middle of a thunderstorm at 2 next morning (that’s 21 hours spent outside, as it took one hour to get to the actual concert place) had a good time, with some minor problems and we all hope that John is fine. And all together, we would like to apologise for the idiots throwing the water bottles after the show was over. The organiser should’ve never given bottled water to people as it’s a serious safety issue (even though yes, we wouldn’t survive without water and it was free!) and the people making trouble were mostly casual fans and those who went to the show out of curiosity.
I am thankful I saw John and RHCP play in my country. The most of other people are, too; they’re just getting over the initial shock!

Hi Iva, pozdrav iz Beograda!
First of all, let me just say (and these infos are TRUE as I was somewhat involved in the organisation of the concert) that John was never the problem. RHCP palyed for an hour and 15 minutes, because that’s what they’ve been paid for. Let me explain: As all other bands, RHCP have two prices. It costs a lot more for them to have a solo concert then to be part of a festival. And they’ve been told that they will be playing at the Green Fest festival which doesn’t really exist but was a cover-up by the EXIT management to get them to play at all. The contract was signed for ONE hour and they got 2.000.000 US$ for that. As it turns out, Anthony was furious when he realised that there IS NO festival and that all the people were coming only to see them. Feeling swindled, they decided to leave immediately after the concert, but out of respect for their fans they played an extra 15 minutes… btw, the money for appr. 27.000 tickets is missing.
Anyway, I heard that they would like to come here again, but we should really tell them the truth next time.
Hi Iva,
I’m so glad you made it to the concert….i completely can feel it when you talk about the tears in your eyes cause it’s almost inevitable to see John playing with such a passion in his face and remain unmoved…but i’m so worried about him, what’s wrong with him?is he hurt emotionally or was it a matter of physical inconvinience?just let all of us know about this matter cause our hearts are so attached to him that anything bothering him will cause us a sore pain…g’luck.
Hi Iva, I’m glad too that you had fun at the concert. After I read these rumours that John had a bad day, I was scared beacause I know how much this concert means to you and the people over there!!
Tomorrow they begin to play in Germany, unfortunately I don’t have enough money to see them this year, but I saw them 3 times last year, so I don’t feel very unlucky.
David
Number 11 was Higher Ground, after that came She’s only 18… and Flea had his little song after Californication.
It was sensational performance, I came from Sarajevo, 10 hours of driving, and I will never forget this night…
Hey Iva. I’m glad you had a great time at the concert. I’m really sorry I couldn’t go. What was happening with John??? Is he OK?? were the solos amazing??? I wish i could have gone to the concert!!!!
